MotorCityConnect Comes to Ann Arbor for Lunch at Vinology

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

On June 10, 2008 Ann Arbor will host our first ever MotorCityConnect lunch. The event will be held at Vinology at 110 South Main Street in Ann Arbor. Lunch will cost you $20 (cash is preferable), payable at the event, and will include a selection of Vinology lunch specials. Lunch runs from 11:00 - 1:00 PM.

The schedule works like this:

11:00 - 11:30 Open Networking
11:30 - 11:45 Formal Introductions and lunch delivered to your seat
11:45 - 12:15 Topic Discussion over lunch
12:15 - 12:45 Share (best practices, table discussions, business tips)
12:45 - 1:00 Specific Asks

I will be the official host of the MCC Ann Arbor lunch, though Terry Bean and Charlie Wolborg will come out to kick off the Ann Arbor event, and make sure we know how to run things proper. This lunch will take place the second Tuesday of every month in the Bubble Room, downstairs at Vinology. Bubble Room at Vinology

From past lunches I can tell you this is pretty intense networking. You need to come with a specific ask for what you need. And it should be very specific for that matter, including the name of the person, the company, and every detail you have.

MotorCityConnect is Networking 3.0 and it’s for business owners, members of companies, people looking for jobs and connections. The people who come to MotorCityConnect meetings share referrals, and really go out of their way to help people.

MotorCityConnect also sponsors blood drives for the Red Cross and supports other charities. So if you live/work/play in Ann Arbor come out to our first MotorCityConnect lunch and meet some friends. The food will be tasty, and you can meet some very interesting people.

Hope to see you there! Derek Mehraban

Support Red Cross on December 21 with Motor City Connect

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

My friends Terry Bean, Charlie Wolberg and everyone at Motor City Connect are organizing a Red Cross donation of blankets, bucks and blood (always hard to say that word, but blood is so important to donate.) Here are the details…

This Friday, December 21st, the members of Motor City Connect are challenging Metro Detroiters to share unused blankets, donate cash and give blood to the Red Cross.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Five Steps to Success

Step one: Add a message and link in the bottom of EVERY email you send in the next nine days. We need to spread this idea virus to everyone we know.

Step two: Pencil in an hour for the Red Cross on Friday, December 21. I’m not sure which blood bank we’ll be visiting yet but I better not be bleeding alone (details to follow).

Step three: Clean out your closets and find unused blankets to donate. You’ll need room for all of the gifts you’ll be receiving anyhow.

Step four: Save at least a dollar a day for the next 10 days so you can donate $10 to the Red Cross on 12/21/2007

Step five: Start talking about our Think Red, Green & Warmth campaign with people you meet as you’re going about your business.

As I sit here writing this, looking outside the window at the blizzard going on, it makes me appreciate how fortunate I am. There are people in need this Holiday season and Motor City Connect is determined to make a difference.
